As we transition from summer into fall, it’s a great time to adjust your skincare routines and prepare your lips for fall's brisk winds. Here are 4 tips to repair your post-summer skin and keep your lips kissably soft through fall:
1) SCRUB AWAY SUMMER RESIDUE
All summer your skin is exposed to outdoor residue, impurities, and pore-clogging sunscreen. As we transition into fall, it's important to remove the dead skin cells, stimulate your skin, and help your moisturizer penetrate deeper to protect from brisk fall winds with a good body scrub.
To keep your skin radiant this fall, we recommend exfoliating twice a week. Oil-based scrubs are wonderful because they exfoliate and hydrate at the same time.
2) REASSESS YOUR BODY CLEANSER
Review your current body cleanser or bar soap to make sure it doesn’t have ingredients that dry out your skin when the dry cold weather comes in. While activated charcoal works great for the oils that build up during summer, you won’t want to use them daily in the fall or you could risk drying out your skin.
Soaps and cleansers containing lavender, rosemary, aloe vera, coconut oil and shea butter are particularly hydrating and help prevent skin from drying out.
3) BUMP UP YOUR MOISTURIZER
While lightweight lotions are perfect for summer, they aren’t going to moisturize or stay on as long as a body butter. If you are prone to dry skin, you will want to swap out your lotions for heavier body butters. Look for body butters that contain pomegranate oil to help fend off free radicals, restore sun damaged skin, and prevent skin ageing.
To keep dry skin at bay, we recommend moisturizing your skin daily. The best time to apply your body butters is right after your shower or bath to seal in the moisture your skin has already absorbed.
4) PREPARE YOUR LIPS
We all know that exfoliating your body and face can keep a radiant complexion in windy weather, but did you know it can also help your lips?
Using natural lip balm is the best way to keep healthy lips soft, smooth, and kissable, but when you already have chapped, peeling lips you'll want to have the power of a lip scrub in your back pocket.
Lips have a thinner layer of skin than the rest of your body, causing them to lose moisture easily. Lip exfoliation eradicates dry, scaly, dead or cracked skin cells, and helps your lip balm penetrate deeper so you can enjoy an even, smooth pout.
To keep your lips soft and kissable throughout fall, we recommend scrubbing them twice a week.
