When we started Green Koala, we set out to create products we felt good about bringing into our own home. Beautifully scented candles, home fragrance, and body care made with thoughtfully chosen ingredients.
What we didn't realize was just how much the people we met along the way would become part of our story.
Over the years, customers have become friends. Fellow artisans we've met at markets and events have become friends. Retailers who first placed an order with us have become people we genuinely look forward to seeing and hearing from.
And that may be our favorite part of owning a small business.
Every Order Has a Person Behind It
When you shop from a small business like Green Koala, your order doesn't disappear into a giant fulfillment center.
We're the people making the products, pouring the candles, filling the bottles, applying the labels, packing the boxes, answering your emails, preparing for shows, and occasionally wondering how we managed to get wax somewhere wax definitely shouldn't be.
We see the names on the orders.
We recognize our longtime customers.
We notice when you come back for the same scent year after year.
And we absolutely notice when you try something new.
That's one of the things that makes small business so personal.
Handmade Still Means Something to Us
Green Koala began in Massachusetts in 2010 with a simple philosophy: everyday products can feel special without being complicated.
That philosophy still guides us today.
Our candles are hand poured using our coconut crème and apricot wax blend, lead free cotton wicks, and phthalate free fragrance oils. Our home and body collections are created in small batches with the same attention to detail we've valued from the beginning.
We aren't trying to make millions of products.
We're trying to make products you'll love enough to use every day and come back for when they're gone.
The Best Part Isn't Something We Make
We're incredibly proud of the products we've created, but after all these years, we've realized that the best part of Green Koala isn't something that comes out of a bottle, jar, or candle vessel.
It's the relationships.
It's the customer who stops at our booth every year just to say hello.
It's the retailer who started carrying a few Green Koala products and became one of our biggest cheerleaders.
It's the fellow artisan we met while setting up for a show who is now a friend.
It's reading your reviews, seeing Green Koala in your homes, receiving your messages, and hearing that you've introduced our products to your family and friends.
Those moments mean more to a small business than you probably realize.
